Massage

Almost every culture in history has developed its own form of massage, many of which are still alive and thriving today, making massage one of the longest used forms of healing in history.

Swedish Massage Therapy currently represents the Western ‘standard massage’ and is often what comes to mind when people think of massage therapy. Though massage began and continued informally in Europe for centuries, a Swedish Physiologist and gymnastics instructor, Pehr Henrik Ling began to shape the practice of massage therapy in the 19th century into what it is known as today.

Typically Swedish Massage uses different lotions, oils or gels and  includes a combination of various techniques. Pressure can be light or deep, depending on preference and desired effects, and though one may feel sore following a treatment, usually this soreness is minimal and secondary to the relief it provides.
