FAQ

  • IS THERE PARKING AT YOUR NEW LOCATION OF 328 WOOLWICH ST?

Yes! My new location does have onsite parking, but in the event the lot is full, there is street parking on McTague St. between 9am-6pm and on Woolwich St out front.

  • WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

My new location is at The Terrace at 328 Woolwich St. downtown. It is 1 block north of With The Grain on the west side of the street and the parking lot can be accessed from McTague St. (first street north of With The Grain). There is also street parking on McTague and Woolwich St. if the lot is full.

  • HOW LONG SHOULD I BOOK?

    For your first visit-
It's recommended you book an extra 15min on top of the treatment time you'd like in order to allow for us to go over your health history, ask/answer any relevant questions and for us to develop the best treatment plan for you. If you can arrive 5min early to fill out the paperwork, that would also be great so it doesn't cut into your booked time.

    For subsequent appointments-
These are the general guidelines I'd recommend:
30min allows focus for follow up treatments and/or to work on 1-2 specific areas
45min is great to treat your back, neck and shoulders generally, or to work on approximately 1-3 areas of the body.
60min allows for a generalized full body treatment for those looking for maintenance, relaxation or a 'reset button'. Some focus might be able to be worked in based on time. It's also great for more specific work to one or two areas that gives the muscles a greater chance to release and to work on compensatory muscles, or areas that are involved less directly.
75min is great for full body with some focus, or to focus on a few areas
90min is great for a full body with focus to a few areas, giving the muscles more chance to release tension.

Please keep in mind that every treatment, and every body, is different and requires different durations of treatment and modalities in order to effect change. If you have any questions about what length of time best suits what you're looking for, please get in touch!

  • DOES MASSAGE THERAPY HURT?

Depending on your body, what is being treated and your individual pain threshold, massage can sometimes feel uncomfortable, though it should never be painful. For example, if using a pain scale from 1-10, 10 being the worst pain, it should never go beyond a 5 or 6. This is because when you experience pain, the body instinctively tenses against it, which creates the opposite effect of what massage intends to do. Certain areas are bound to be more tender, but it is best to keep an open line of communication with your therapist as to what kind of pressure you like during a treatment, keeping in mind that pressure is subject to change in different areas of your body.

  • HOW DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT

I prefer to receive an etransfer for your treatment, and I will email a receipt

  • WHY DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A HEALTH HISTORY FORM?

It is a legal requirement that your massage therapist must have a health history for their clients on file before they are allowed to treat a client. This is done so that the therapist is aware of what is happening in your body and make any adjustments to the treatment for your safety or to serve you better. All information is confidential. To know more about our privacy policy, please see our privacy policy

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

It is best to arrive at your massage wearing comfortable clothing so that if any testing needs to be done, it is easier both on you and your therapist. For the massage, it is common to wear only your underwear, but it is your body, and it is up to you; your therapist can always adjust for more or less clothing.
If you're looking for a Thai massage blend with Swedish, please arrive in comfortable clothing, such as yoga or sweatpants as parts of your body will be stretched and massaged.
Please continue to wear a mask as per our government guidelines for registered healthcare. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to get in touch.

  • DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?

I do not require you to have a doctor's referral, however you can always ask your doctor for one, or ask your doctor if massage is right for you. Keep in mind some insurance plans still require a doctor’s referral, so inquire with your employer, HR representative or insurance provider directly as to whether or not this is the case. If you have received a referral from your doctor, or have any medical paperwork (results from x/rays, MRIs, etc) please bring them to your treatment so I have the best understanding of your body.

  • HOW DOES MASSAGE WORK WITH MY INSURANCE COVERAGE?

Ask your employer or HR representative how much coverage you get for massage per year. Often companies will give a lump sum (ex.- $500 for massage therapy/year), however some insurance only covers you for a certain amount of money per massage (ex.-$7.00/massage). Once you’ve received your treatment and paid, your therapist will give you a receipt with her registration number and any other information required for insurance purposes and you will then submit this receipt to your insurance company to be reimbursed. I currently do not do direct billing.

  • IS MASSAGE RIGHT FOR ME?

Many people enjoy massage and find great benefit in its effects, however it cannot always ‘fix’ your problem entirely, but rather can be used as a tool to help either with your rehabilitation, or maintenance along with your own self care or other modalities such as chiropractic care, acupuncture, physio, exercise, stretching etc. If you have any questions regarding a specific condition, illness or injury, please feel free to get in touch.
