With the (hopefully) close of winter, so many people are coming down with colds, flus or stomach bugs recently. When your immune system gets bogged down, it’s important to take good care of yourself. Normally, massage is a great way to take a breather and boost your health, but before you book your massage, there are a couple important things you should know.
Because massage can affect the circulatory system, and depending on the pressure used, the lymphatic system, it’s great to get the blood moving, but it can also bring things lurking in the background to the fore, bringing on colds a lot sooner and stronger than you’d like. Use your discretion when booking your appointment. If you feel like you’re coming down with something, or in the throws of being sick, I’d recommend staying home to rest. If you’re calling to cancel an appointment, there will of course be no charge and I can easily reschedule to a time when you’re feeling better.
Another thing you might want to know about is lymphatic massage. The lymphatic system controls your immune system and getting a lymphatic massage can be just what your body needs. More on this in the next blog post, and if you have any questions, or aren’t sure whether you should come in, please give me a call or send me an email and we can figure it out together.
Until then, keep well!
