‘Just’ Relaxation…

December 17, 2015

So many people think they have to have a specific problem in order to justify going to an RMT. Obviously, massage therapy helps with a variety of conditions and complaints, but stress reduction, and the complications that arise from a higher level of stress, is a major and often discounted reason to seek massage therapy.
Stress affects your life in so many ways, creating sleep problems, increasing muscle tension, bringing on headaches, affecting mood…the list goes on. Our society has developed an aggressive view on life, with people taking pride in how much they can accomplish with little help. But the stress accumulates under the surface and taking a time out to manage that stress can actually help you function at a higher level, improve and maintain health, and make you a more whole human being.
There are many ways to manage stress on your own, but sometimes getting a little help is a good thing and can start you on your way to taking better care of yourself. As an RMT, I recommend whatever kind of treatment you respond to the most, whether that’s deep tissue to work on a tight area, a full body massage that can act as a ‘reset’ button, or any of the number of therapies I provide. If you’re looking for something new, Thai massage is great at reducing holding patterns your muscles develop over time, or you can try craniosacral therapy, which helps with a number of central nervous system disorders, but more than anything, is the most relaxing therapy I’ve come across yet.
Whether you’d like a little help or can do it on your own, it’s time to relax.
